about
Fast Forward was written between a move from Burlington VT back to my hometown of White River Jct., VT during Covid. Feeling frustrated and massively anxious about the pandemic, losing jobs and gigs and money as a result, and with declining mental health, Fast Forward came as a sort of comfort blanket that literally no one else has their life together either. The song reminds me that it's ok to do what I need to do to feel good. Surround yourself with people who love you, believe your struggles, and support you no matter what shit hits your fan, and who can stick it out with you. If you haven't found that tribe yet, keep searching.
lyrics
Maybe I should move again,
Make myself some brand new friends,
And start over.
I can leave the past behind,
Rewrite my whole long life,
Fast forward.
Everybody seems to have it all worked out.
Rearrange my DNA so I can punch that clock every god damned day.
Pretty people on TV,
Selling us catastrophe,
They call it the new normal.
Denial is a drug,
My cup's not big enough,
To drown all of my sorrows.
Everybody seems to have it all figured out.
Rearrange my DNA so I can turn my cheek and look the other way.
